Sub Zero EC 06- Refrigerator Evaporator Thermistor Error
What it means- Your sub zero has temperature sensors called thermistors. Typically you have two in each section, one for the evaporator coil, and one for the cabin. This error code means that your evaporator thermistor is out of range, not reading correctly, or experience large temperature swings.
What to do- Run through diagnostic mode, check temperature reading on refrigerator thermistor. If it is obviously out of range, change thermistor located on the evaporator of the refrigeration section. We expect with the door open for a few minutes, the refrigerator evaporator should read at least 30 degrees and below. Inspect thermistor for oxidation, replace thermistor.
In This Video: This unit was set for 34 degrees, but seemed to run around 40 degrees. When we arrived the compressor was off and the unit was not achieving temperature. If it isn't cold enough that compressor should be running! We inspected the thermistor, found oxidation and a poor connection , we replaced the thermistor.
